Fringe-like. The drosophila protein fringe (FNG) is a glucosaminyltransferase that controls the response of the Notch receptor to specific ligands. FNG is localized to the Golgi apparatus (not secreted as previously thought). Modification of Notch occurs through glycosylation by FNG.
